HOLIDAY LIGHTS CELEBRATION

Each year we recruit a team of judges to vote on the "Best of" holiday decorations in the neighborhood.

Congratulations to our winners of the annual competition, jointly sponsored by the Bellevue Forest Garden Club and the Bellevue Forest Citizen's Association.  The Dec. 2000 winners are:

Most Whimsical:           3601 N. Lincoln St  (the judges loved the wreathed crane!)                                                           3800 N. 30th St  (bright lights and moving reindeer!)

Best use of Natural:          3118 N. Quincy  (a real Williamsburg air!)                                                                                        3121 N. Oakland  (decorations and plantings were splendid!)

Most Dramatic:           3508 N. 36th St  (the nutcrackers were the determining factor!)                                                  3648 N. Monroe   (wonderful use of lights and naturals!)

Best Use of Lights:  Piedmont cul-de-sac  (collective and spectacular engineering feat!)                                           3928 N. 36th St   (brought to mind New England Christmas's of old!)
The Judges had a truly difficult time this year because there were so many wonderful possibilities throughout the neighborhood.   Fortunately, the presence of a minister insured that they did not resort to fisticuffs!  A very special thanks goes to the Reverend William Hoffman of the Church of the Covenant who shared his evening with us (and left his personal flock of family who had gathered from the four corners of the US for the holidays).
